Liz Long Rottman, LPC, LMT
Founder of Prosopon Therapy I am a somatic bodyworker, body psychotherapist, and somatic educator. I am committed to supporting people with complex backgrounds and experiences of their body/mind/psyche. I aim to provide a place where your authentic self feels deeply acknowledged and a container wherein you feel safe to grow and change. We work together to create your path to thriving. Movement, philosophy, mythology, spirituality, applied physiology, and psychology have been my muse and medicine. I bring decades of personal work addressing my own complexity and working with others in body/mind/psyche contexts, from athletic coaching to support groups for people living with psychotic disorders. I believe my effectiveness as a clinician comes from my ongoing focus on my own growth and lifelong dedication to learning the best practices the healing arts, philosophies, and sciences offer. When I am not pursuing my passion at "work," I spend time enjoying the company of my husband, son, and bonded pair of cats in our mountain home, as well as with our beautiful community of friends and family. Currently, I am inspired by parenting, yoga, somatic movement practices, weightlifting, cooking/nutrition, being in relationship, skiing, mountain biking, making art out of paper, writing, and foraging. Due to the kind of license I carry, I can diagnose psychological disorders, but frankly, I find diagnostics are best done through a good psychological evaluation by an assessor with a Ph.D. or equivalent training. If having an accurate diagnosis is important to you, I am happy to refer you to an assessor. Likewise, I encourage people with physical ailments to pursue diagnosis with an MD or equivalent if they would benefit. I am a big believer in “non-reductionism,” which means I do not privilege one “approach” over the other (i.e., always deferring to organic, humanistic approaches over traditional medical care. Sometimes we need medication, surgery, etc.). I just care that you get the treatment that works for you. |
I am currently working in private practice in Boulder, CO and for the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute.
